2014 marks the 8th Annual Irish Human Computer Interaction (iHCI) conference, Irelands leading forum for work in all areas of Human Computer Interaction.
iHCI brings together practitioners, academics, researchers and students from a wide variety of disciplines including user experience designers, information architects, software engineers, human factors experts, information systems analysts, social scientists and managers. We also welcome perspectives from design, architecture engineering, planning, social science and creative industries among other disciplines.
This year we are making exciting changes to the format. We are kicking of the conference with a “circuit-training style” masterclass session. The classes will be informal, roundtable format, where interaction and questions are encouraged.
The three classes will be:
• Brain computer interfaces
• Personal Sensors
• Bringing Research to Product
TOPICS
The conference theme is “Shaping our Digital Lives” which reflects how technology influences our home, work, play, and life, and the challenges in designing and deploying innovative and collaborative technologies which shape our lives.
We are interested both in research contributions on all topics related to Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) including practical, technical, methodological, empirical and theoretical aspects, including (but are not limited to) the following:
• Mobile, Ambient, Augmented or Tangible HCI
• Usability, Accessibility & User experience
• User-centred design
• Social and collaboration technologies
• Ethnographical and field studies
• Evaluation methods and frameworks
• Human-centred design practices, tools and methods
• Information visualization and presentation techniques
• Novel user interfaces, interaction techniques and technologies
• Multimodal interaction and interfaces
• Ubiquitous, pervasive, and mobile interaction
• Wearable computing, smart clothes, new devices and sensors
• Human factors in health and wellness applications and health care informatics
• HCI theory and practice
• HCI in games and entertainment
• HCI in health and welfare
• HCI in education
• User interaction issues with the use of ICT in expanding cultural contexts and in all aspects of home, work, play and life
• Designing for specific groups (e.g. children, older adults, collaborators)
